A world of career possibilities opened up for participants in ºìÐÓÊÓƵ’s Trades Week, held March 14-18. More than 70 prospective students participated in webinars and campus tours as they explored all that the trades have to offer.

“There’s never been a better time to study a trade,” said Kirby Rushton, Dean of Trades and Apprenticeship at ºìÐÓÊÓƵ. “The trades are experiencing a big boom, and as tradespeople retire, there are going to be thousands of job openings for those who have the right training and skillsets.”

Data from NBjobs.ca indicates 3,100 expected job vacancies in the trades over the next three years, with welding, electrical, carpentry, industrial mechanics, automotive service, and heavy equipment operation among the most in-demand.

Throughout Trades Week, New Brunswickers and newcomers alike had the opportunity to learn more about these and other trades on offer at ºìÐÓÊÓƵ. Rushton, along with ºìÐÓÊÓƵ alumna Tara McNeill, hosted a webinar to share the value of an education in the skilled trades with prospective learners. McNeill, who studied Automotive Service Technician at ºìÐÓÊÓƵ, is a fierce advocate of women in the skilled trades and a true champion of inclusivity.
